Idaho Catholic summer camps are open for registration
This coming summer will be my fourth summer of working with the camp teams in Idaho to create a week of fun, fellowship, and formation. The past three years I have had the privilege of supporting the Diocesan camps which have included our Catholic Jr. High Camp and Camp RIM. This year I am please to bring both camps back to serve the youth, their parents, and the parishes through these week long camps.

Bishop Peter Christensen’s 2026 Easter message/Mensaje de Pascua de 2026 del obispo Christensen
The Resurrection reminds us that the Church is not called simply to maintain what already exists. Rather, we are sent into the world with a mission. Before ascending to the Father, the risen Christ entrusted His disciples with a clear command: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” This command remains at the heart of the Church’s life today. Each baptized Catholic shares in this call . . .

From Hosanna to the Resurrection: The Journey of Holy Week
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. On this day, the faithful commemorate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. ( ICR photo / Vero Gutiérrez) By Deacon Salvador Carranza Palm Sunday We begin with the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey. We cry out, "Hosanna!" ("Save us, we beg you"). This plea for deliverance turned into a cry of praise. Shortly thereafter, the atmosphere shifts dramatically toward the Passion. This contrast serves as a

Becoming Good Samaritans: Accompanying those who suffer
As I have traveled through our diocese over the years, it is clear to me how important it is for people of faith to seek the needed balance between mind, body and spirit. Our mental health is crucial for our overall wellbeing as persons made in the image and likeness of God.

From suffering to hope: Jaime Davis finds way to Catholic Church
Though unfamiliar with Catholic practice, Jaime said she was drawn to the liturgy itself.
“I found it beautiful,” she said. “The sense that happened when everyone was saying their responses and singing and moving throughout the Mass in this wonderful, like, dance—I just found it beautiful.”

Believing in Jesus
John 11:1–45 Fifth Sunday of Lent The resurrection of Lazarus is astonishing. Jesus is rarely presented as being so human, fragile and endearing. When Jesus saw Mary (Lazarus’ sister) and the others weeping, He was deeply moved. When He asked where they had laid Lazarus, they replied, “Come and see,” and Jesus began to weep. In the midst of this moving scene, Jesus reveals, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, even though he dies, will live; and whoeve

Rite of Election testifies Catechumens, Candidates are ready
Answering the call is more than receiving the Sacraments. “It is about becoming saints,” he said. “The journey ahead — especially these coming weeks of Lent will not simply be about learning more prayers or memorizing teachings. It will be about conversion, about allowing Christ to examine your heart. It is about trust and surrender.”

Bishop Peter: A Lenten call to listen to the Holy Spirit who leads us home
Lent is not first a season of our effort or self-improvement. It is, above all, a season of God’s mercy and action in our lives through the gift of the Holy Spirit. At the same time, this gift is never forced upon us. The Holy Spirit is freely given, but he must also be freely received.

Bishop Peter: Marriage Week 2026: together with purpose
In a culture that can confuse identity, weaken commitment and reduce love to feelings alone, the Church proclaims with confidence and compassion what Jesus Himself reveals: that marriage is not a private experiment, but a divine gift — an enduring covenant of faithful love, ordered toward communion and fruitfulness, and elevated by Christ to the dignity of a sacrament.

Marriage for Life: From surviving to thriving: A conversation on faith, science and finding peace
We aren’t just “sprinkling Bible verses” on top of self-help. We are inviting Christ into the very biology of our stress. For example, in Week 2 of our four-week program, we look at the Gospel of John alongside brain biology to understand how to rewire our response to triggers. We use the tools God gave us—both scientific and spiritual—to move from chronic stress to Christ-centered calm.

Marriage for Life: Seeing the levels of church at work, National Marriage Week to be celebrated February 7-14, 2026
Tip O’Neill, U.S. Speaker from the Reagan-era, once said that “all politics is local.” It may also be said that the experience of the Church is local, but there is much more to the Catholic Church. A universal, worldwide Church is a big Church. Most Catholics experience living the faith in their homes and at their local parishes.
