After three years of advocacy, Karinda Palmer helped bring a Safe Haven Baby Box to Weiser Memorial Hospital, giving mothers in crisis a safe, anonymous way to surrender a newborn. Blessed during a Ceremony of Hope and Compassion, the box was funded by approximately $30,000 in donations raised in just 30 days. It is the third Safe Haven Baby Box installed in Idaho.

St. Mark’s Catholic Community in Boise hosted “True Colors: A Party with Purpose,” bringing Catholics together for art, fellowship and discussion of Idaho Proposition 1. The Church teaches that human life is sacred from the first moment of conception, and Pope Saint John Paul II warned that Catholics in public office or in the media can cause “confusion and even scandal” when they advance positions contrary to Church teaching.

“The Idaho Supreme Court has made it clear that a woman does not need to be in imminent risk of death for a doctor to act,” she said. “But unfortunately we hear misinformation about Idaho’s laws. They say that doctors can’t practice medicine here or that they must transfer women out of state in medical emergencies. “It’s so important to do both: to support the mother and protect the babies, just as our bishops have led us to do,” said Emily Naugle, president of Right to Life of Idaho. “We need to keep working so all babies may be welcomed in love and protected in law.”

Doors open at 6 p.m., with a taco dinner served at 6:30 p.m. The night’s theme is “Let’s Taco ‘Bout a Path to Victory for Life!” The dinner is $20 per individual and $10 for students. Proceeds benefit Right to Life Idaho’s mission to advance reverence for human life in the state.
