We Choose Life

Contact Idaho Chooses Life to request their “We Choose Life” sign.

Idaho law protects political yard signs on private property. An HOA may set reasonable rules about size, number, and placement — it cannot ban you from displaying a sign supporting or opposing a ballot measure. Don’t let fear of an HOA keep you from standing for the unborn.

Put a sign out. Start a conversation. Vote No on Prop 1.

Sept. 26: Women’s Retreat

The Monastery of Our Lady of Ephesus, 4450 N. Five Mile Rd., Boise is hosting a half-day Women’s Retreat Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register, email registrar@vsboise.org.

Sept. 27: 2026 Friends of the Poor Walk

St. Vincent de Paul is hosting its annual Friends of the Poor Walk. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 27.

The walk begins at 2 p.m. at Julia Davis Park Celebration Pavilion, 700 S. Capitol Blvd, Boise. You can register by visiting svdpid.org/walk.
Your participation helps local conferences support neighbors with rent, utilities, essential needs, and other financial assistance.
How to participate:

Choose a 1-mile walk for all ages and abilities or a 3-mile route through Julia Davis Park.
Walk individually or create a team with friends, family, coworkers, church groups, or community organizations.
T-shirts will be available on walk day, first come, first served.

Sept. 30: Understanding Idaho Prop 1

An evening event offering a physician’s perspective on Idaho Prop 1 and how it impacts families in our state.

Season of Creation at the Monastery of St. Gertrude

Sept. 25 – 27: Backcountry Tent Camping Retreat, Fish Creek Group Site

Participants supply their own tent, camp chair, sleeping bag, and ground pad or air mattress, dishes, silverware, travel mug and potable water and must sign a liability waiver. Potluck meal on Friday evening (please bring something to share) + simple vegetarian fare provided for retreat leader for other meals. Limited to 20 tent campers. Registration opens on Sep. 8 and is limited to 20 participants. This event is free.

Oct. 3: Panel discussion on “The Mystery of Creation”

Each of three invited speakers to answer the question: “What has the mystery of creation meant to you on your personal spiritual journey?” followed by Q&A. No registration required. The event is free and open to the public (part of the Fall Oblate Retreat at the monastery). Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. PDT in the Johanna Room, Spirit Center, Monastery of St. Gertrude.

Oct. 3: Blessing of the Forest and Reception at Grotto

Join us for our blessing of the forest, followed by a simple reception at the Grotto. A car shuttle is available. Please do not drive up the hill in your private car, as there is very limited parking at the Grotto. The event is free and open to the public. No registration necessary. Oct. 3, approximately 2:30 p.m. PDT Meet in front of the Spirit Center, Monastery of St. Gertrude.

Oct. 4: Feast of St. Francis of Assisi – Blessing of Animals

Co-sponsored with St. Mary’s Parish (Cottonwood). Bring your well-behaved, leashed dogs. You are welcome to walk your dog in the park area at the front of the monastery but not in other areas around the monastery. Owners must pick up after their dogs (plastic bags and trash bins are provided) and keep their dogs leashed at all times. This event is free and open to the public. No registration required. Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. PDT at the Center for Benedictine Life.

Saturday, Oct. 3: Ready, Aim, Support

The “Shoot Your Salt & Lights Out” Vocations Trap Shoot is coming near you on Saturday, October 3 at the Twin Falls Gun Club! Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a complete beginner, everyone is welcome—and training is provided.

Tuesday, Oct. 6: Catholic Community Forum

Our Lady of the Lake is sponsoring an “Open Door Q&A” at the McCall Public Library so that the Public, Catholic, former Catholics, and others of different religious traditions may ask any questions pertaining to today’s Catholic Faith. Those with questions on Prop 1 are welcome to attend.

Oct. 10: Mass for the Sanctity of Life

Fr. Benjamin Onyemachi will celebrate Mass for the Sanctity of Life at 10 a.m. near Meridian Planned Parenthood, 2112 E. Franklin Rd, Meridian, hosted by the Holy Apostles Knights of Columbus.

Gather in the vacant lot to the east of MPP
Rosary will begin at 9:30.
Bring your own chair.
Parking is limited to 140 spots.

Oct. 16-18: A Weekend with Mary Fall Retreat

Campus Ministry Retreat for young adults hosted by Father Paul Kallal, OMV, at Camp Lutherhaven, 3258 W. Lutherhaven Rd., Coeur d’Alene.

Oct. 24: Naming and Taming Anxiety and Stress

The Dioceses of Boise, Baker and Spokane will host a four-week virtual retreat with Catholic therapist Jim Otremba, focusing on anxiety and negative stress.

Sessions are Oct. 24 and 31, and Nov. 7 and 14, from 1-2 p.m. Mountain Time via Zoom.

Candlelight Celebration of Vespers at 6 p.m. and Mass at 7 p.m. in remembrance of all the faithful departed at St. John’s Cathedral, 707 N 8th Street, Boise.
